Friends of Shelley School - FOSS
The PTA is an integral part of school life, providing an opportunity to work in partnership to support and enhance our children’s learning and overall experience whilst at Shelley First School, whilst contributing to the community around us.
We are a small, dynamic volunteer group who meet regularly to discuss new ideas and plan fundraising events.
Joining the PTA is a fun way to work together to contribute and give back to our school.

- Develop effective relationships between parents/carers, teachers and others associated with our school
- Raise money to support and enhance facilities not covered in the school budget
- Support and promote the values and ethos of the school
- Provide opportunities to interact and socialise through fundraising events
- Develop links with our local community
HOW DO WE SPEND THE MONEY?
Money raised by the PTA is reinvested into the school and used to enhance our children’s learning and experiences. We work with the teachers and children, through the School Council, to identify facilities, equipment and support required that is above and beyond those provided by the school budget. All requests are presented to the PTA Committee for review and approval.
We have recently supported funding 20 new laptops and funded the resources to implement the school's emergency planning procedures, purchasing new software and 2 way radios.
We have also provided funds for dictionaries for the Year 5 leavers, supported the costs of the annual school pantomime and contributed towards Creative Week for the last two years.
During the 2018 academic year, we have committed funds for updating the literacy resources in school.
Along with the teaching staff, all parents/carers/guardians are automatically enrolled as members of the PTA when their child joins the school – your voice counts! The Committee is elected by its members annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and are responsible for decisions related to the Association and its funds.

The PTA Committee aims to meet monthly with additional meetings for fundraising and event planning scheduled as required.
All our planned meetings for 2020/21 are listed below and they will be held online - inks will be emailed to parents prior to the meeting date.
